Welcome to
DMACC
Libraries Online Des Moines Area Community College |
Videos, DVDs and other media in our libraries are available for you to use in your classes. (Please note that they cannot be used for presentations by organizations outside DMACC.) To find videos in our collections, search by keyword in the online catalog and select "videos" as the material type.
You may check out media in person at any DMACC library. You may also reserve media in advance for use at a later date. You must have a current library card to check out videos and other media.
Videos normally circulate for two school days. Policies on extended loan periods vary by campus.
Advanced bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis. If an item is not available on a given date, we cannot give you the name of the person who reserved it. Iowa law designates library records that reveal individuals' use of specific items as confidential.
To reserve a video or other item, contact the campus library (Ankeny, Boone, Carroll, Newton, or Urban/Des Moines) that owns it. This is shown in the online catalog record in the "Location" box. If this is a campus other than your own, you will need to contact the library at least 3 school days before the date you need the item, to allow time for shipment via intra-campus mail, UPS, or Priority Mail.
At this time, items cannot be shipped to the Hunziker Center in Ames.
When you borrow videos or other media, keep in mind that other faculty/staff may have reserved the item(s) you have checked out. It is your responsibility to return media on or before the due date. If an item needs to be shipped to another campus, return the item to your campus library at least 3 school days before the due date.
We make every effort to be sure the videos you have reserved will be available at the time(s) you requested. However, please keep in mind that a previous user may not return the item on time. Videos can also be damaged or lost. We will let you know as soon as possible if such a problem arises.
