Libraries Online Des Moines Area Community College |
If you want to make materials available to your students for short-term loans, you can have them placed on course reserve at your campus library. Such items are designated for a particular course, and can include materials for extra credit assignments, supplemental materials for the course, extra copies of your textbook, or other items.
You may select items from your campus library's collections or provide personal copies of materials to be placed on reserve. Please note that all items, including personal copies, will have barcodes and labels affixed to them for circulation.
All reserve materials must meet copyright guidelines in order to be circulated to students. We cannot accept off-air audio or video tapes or multiple photocopies of copyrighted material for course reserves. Commercial copies of tapes or DVDs, periodical issues, and books are all acceptable.
You may choose any of five options for loan periods. Please consider the nature of the assignment, the number of copies of the item available, and the number of students who will need to use the materials when you make your choice. Course reserve loan periods are:
One hour
Two hours
One day
Two days
One week
Course reserve items are not renewable. Students are assessed overdue fines for materials returned late; 25¢ per hour for hourly loans, and 50¢ per day for overnight loans.
To place items on course reserve, take them to your campus library service or circulation desk. We will need your contact information, the number and name of the course, the loan period you want for each item, and the date the materials should be removed from reserve.
Please allow at least one school day for reserve materials to be processed.
For more information, contact your campus library at Ankeny, Boone, Carroll, Newton, or Urban/Des Moines.
